an extra copy of data and sent to an external device that stores
data. Data, which backed up can come from both servers that are
secure in our computer, but it goes equally well to perform backup
on external servers, computers that are far away. Questions about

Innehåll
- CDP
solution is a server software that enables disk-based
data protection and recovery of Linux servers and workstations
that run Microsoft Windows and Linux operating systems.
CDP Server protects the disk volume data using replication
and synchronization over the network storing point-in-time
Snap Shots in disk-based storage.

-
CDP Continuous Data Protection solution is almost continuous
backup systems capable of providing hundreds of recovery
points per day is planned as little as 5 or 10 minutes.
-
CDP Server works by reading hard drive volumes at the
sectoral level, crossing the file system for the ultimate
in performance and recovery. This disk sector synchronization
is performed while the server is online and provides
no interruption to other I / O request even if a busy
server. By reading the disk at the lowest possible level
point-in-time recovery images containing your files
and all formatting, partition tables, and volume configuration
needed for full and immediate recovery.
-
The
Data Protection Directive process
Scheduled point-in-time volume snapshots planned on
CDP Server. The CDP server then periodically connects
to the CDP Agent software, and synchronize changed disk
sectors to the CDP Server. The CDP Server creates a
new point-in-time image of the disk volume every time
you connect it to the agent for synchronization. The
point-in-time images are called recovery points and
stored in the Righteous requires a Secure disk. Recycling
points only consist of a copy of bytes of disk sectors.
This means that it usually only take a few seconds or
minutes to fill the disk synchronization even if very
large volumes. The more recycling points schedule faster
they complete. When the compression is enabled hundreds
of recovery points can be stored in less space than
it takes to store a disk image.
In between synchronization requests from the CDP Server,
the CDP agent passively tracks changes to the hard drives
as they happen. This process involves no overhead, and
require a relatively small amount of memory. This is
typically about 6 MB per 100 GB disk storage is synchronized.
-
Secure
data management and archiving
Information on the CDP Server is stored in the CDP's
patent-pending Disk safe storage format. This disk format
enables CDP Server to archive point-in-time recovery
of photos for a long time to use as little space as
possible. For each configured backup schedule a rotation
policy can be defined. This rule specifies how many
incremental to hold for each schedule. Old recycling
points automatically deleted in accordance with the
policy. This system carefully, hour, day, week and month
recovery point the administration is flexible enough
for all needs. You think about the following example
policy shows the flexibility of automated data protection
rule:
*
Syncing every 10 minutes - retain the last 48 recovery
points
* Synchronize hour - to keep the last 48 recovery points
* Synchronize daily at midnight --
* Maintain the last 7 recycling points
* Synchronize every week on Sundays - to keep the last
4 recycling points
* Synchronize monthly 1 - retain the last 48 recovery
points
Such
a rule can be automatically managed by the CDP Server.
Besides rule management unwanted recovery point can
be removed by an administrator at any time. Selected
recovery points can also be locked to prevent the automatic
deletion of a rule.
Supporting
heterogeneous environments
-
The
CDP Server can be installed on either a Microsoft Windows
Server or Linux Server. Regardless of O / S selection
CDP Server for both Windows and Linux computers running
CDP agent program can be protected. Both Linux and Windows
data protection managed from a single web interface
on the CDP Server.
-
Linux
Server Open file backup and Point-in-time Recovery
Linux CDP Agent runs on most 2.4 and 2.6 Linux distributions.
There are a variety of agent installers built with binary
compatibility of the most popular Linux distributions.
For unsupported dividends and custom Linux kernels we
make a Linux 2.6 Generic installer.
-
Windows
Server volume shadow copy integration
Windows CDP Attorney integrated with Microsoft Volume
Shadow Copy Service (VSS), which provides online synchronization
of the VSS aware applications such as Microsoft SQL
Server, Exchange Server and SharePoint Services. VSS
is also used for the online backup to disk volumes on
Microsoft Windows servers and workstations.
Browse
and restore files
-
Files
for both MS Windows NTFS partitions and Linux file system
can be browsed on the CDP Server web interface. Administrators
can control the backups by browsing files. A combination
of files and directories can be selected to restore
through an easy to use web interface and file browser.
Files can be restored to its original position, an alternative
site, or even alternative values. They may also be encrypted
in transit using RSA keys and 128-bit Blowfish encryption.
The CDP Server has proprietary implementations of NTFS
and Linux file system that allows for the CDP Server
to read directly to the recycling point disk images
just as they were mounted on a live server.
Bare-metal
restore, and recovery
Each recovery point stored on the CDP Server is virtually
a complete disk image as seen at a certain point in
time. Each disk image contains the file system formatting,
partition table, and the volume of administrative tasks
needed to rebuild the entire disk. In the event of emergency
or to quickly return to the previous Windows or Linux
server can be booted in a special recovery mode (see
Disaster Recovery methods below). When booted into recovery
mode, a recovery point can be streamed over the network
directly on the server's hard drive from the CDP Server.
End-to-end
strong encryption
-
CDP
Server supports strong encryption of the disk data using
RSA keys and the Blowfish cipher. During a synchronization
data is encrypted (and possibly compressed) on the agent
and sent to the server over the network where it is
stored in encrypted form. The data can only be decrypted
using an RSA key is protected with a password. In a
bar-metal restore disk sectors decrypted on the fly
at the agent.
Block
Transfer Protocol
-
CDP
Server communicates over the network using TCP-based
Block Transfer Protocol developed by R1Soft. This protocol
allows for efficient pipelining of the disk sectors
and blocks over the network. All blocks are checked
to send and receive using MD5 check amount. The CDP
agent verifies CDP servers using RSA keys. All data
is encrypted using RSA keys and the Blowfish encryption
with 128-bit keys.
